THE TREATMENT
Areola restoration encompasses two related but distinct treatments — 3D areola recreation and nipple blushing — both performed using specialised paramedical tattooing techniques. The right approach depends on what you've had done surgically and what you're hoping to restore.
For clients who have undergone mastectomy with reconstruction, 3D areola recreation uses advanced shading and hyper-realistic colour matching to recreate the appearance of a natural nipple and areola where none currently exists. The technique uses light, shadow, and depth to produce a result that has genuine three-dimensional realism — indistinguishable in most contexts from a natural areola.
For clients who have existing areolas that have changed in colour, symmetry, or appearance following surgery, breast feeding or with age, nipple blushing adjusts tone and uniformity — restoring warmth, correcting asymmetry, or refreshing pigmentation that has faded or shifted.
Both treatments are priced by consultation. Every case is different, and the time, complexity, and number of sessions required varies enough that a fixed price would not be appropriate or fair. Your consultation is always complimentary, with no obligation to proceed.

The general guidance is to wait at least 12 months after breast surgery before areola tattooing — long enough for the tissue to fully settle and for any reconstruction to stabilise. Some surgeons recommend waiting longer, particularly following implant-based reconstruction where the tissue may continue to shift. Ally works alongside your surgical team and can liaise with your surgeon if helpful. Your specific timeline is discussed at consultation.
Many clients who have had mastectomy or reconstruction have significantly reduced or absent sensation in the breast tissue — which typically makes the procedure more comfortable than it might otherwise be. Topical anaesthetic is applied regardless. Ally works carefully and communicates throughout, adapting her approach to your level of sensation and comfort.
The 3D hyper-realistic technique uses advanced shading and colour layering to create genuine depth and dimension — recreating the appearance of a raised nipple and surrounding areola on a flat surface. The result is highly realistic in normal lighting and everyday contexts. In very bright, direct lighting the two-dimensional nature of the tattoo may be apparent — this is the honest limitation of any paramedical areola tattooing, regardless of technique. Most clients complete their areola restoration across two sessions — the initial treatment and a perfecting session at six to eight weeks. The second session is a standard part of the process and although not always required, it usually is. The second session allows Ally to assess how the pigment has settled and add detail, depth, and symmetry refinement. Some clients with more complex presentations or who want a more saturated result may benefit from a third session — this is discussed openly as treatment progresses.
Unilateral treatment — one breast only — is common and straightforward to accommodate. Pricing and session time reflect the area being treated. For unilateral cases, Ally references the existing natural areola on the opposite side to guide colour, shape, and size matching, aiming for symmetry that is natural rather than identical.
